Protecting hair from chlorinated water

The summer has finally made its arrival, which we all know is accompanied with hot days. Every summer most of us find ourselves on a journey to the local pool or waterpark. If we get really desparate sometimes we even leave the state to have a little fun in the sun. Wait! Before you slide on that bathing suit there is something you need to know about the water that is in almost every pool. Most pools use chlorine in the water to kill any sickening bateria. For the most part chlorine is effective when doing its job, but it also has the potential to ruin your beautiful tresses. When measures are not taken to protect the hair, chlorine water seeps into the hair follicle and dries it out. The dryness makes the hair brittle, thus causing breakage. So how to protect your hair from breaking you ask? Before you get in anyone's pool make sure that you saturate your hair with fresh water, that way it is a lot harder for the chlorine to be absorbed into your hair follicle. If you don't mind a swimming cap, they are also good for protecting your hair. The key is to try not to get your hair wet. However, if getting your hair wet is inevitable make sure you rinse your hair with club soda once you get out of the pool. This will remove the chlorine and impurities from the hair. After using the club soda there is no need to shampoo, but it is a personal choice. However, you must condition to hydrate your hair.

Dive in and enjoy your summer!
